At Meta Mechanics, we understand that your Audi RS7 isn’t just a luxury sedan—it’s a performance powerhouse that demands the best in maintenance to keep it running at its peak. One of the most important aspects of your Audi’s safety and performance is the brake system, and regular brake pad replacement is crucial for maintaining optimal stopping power, comfort, and safety.
We recently had the opportunity to perform a brake pad replacement on an Audi RS7 in Dubai, and we’d like to walk you through why brake pads are so important, what we discovered during the service, and the steps we took to restore your Audi’s braking performance.
Issue Identified:
1. Worn Front Brake Pads
Problem: Upon inspecting the front brake pads, we found that they had worn down to the minimum thickness. Worn pads not only compromise braking performance but can also lead to unnecessary rotor wear if left unchanged.
Solution: We replaced the worn front brake pads with high-quality OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) brake pads designed specifically for the Audi RS7. These pads were chosen for their high-performance braking capabilities, ensuring smooth, quiet, and efficient stopping power.
2. Thin Rear Brake Pads
Problem: The rear brake pads were also nearing the end of their service life, showing significant wear. While rear brake pads generally wear slower than front pads, they still need to be replaced when they reach the manufacturer’s minimum thickness to avoid safety concerns.
Solution: We replaced the rear brake pads with new Audi-approved brake pads, ensuring that the rear braking system performed in balance with the front. This helps maintain even braking performance and reduces the risk of uneven wear.
3. Brake Rotor Inspection
Problem: During our inspection, we noticed that the brake rotors were in good condition overall, with only minor signs of wear. However, there was some slight scoring due to the worn pads.
Solution: We determined that the rotors did not require replacement, but we lightly resurfaced them to ensure a smooth, even surface for the new pads. This helped to restore optimal brake performance and extend the lifespan of the rotors.
4. Brake Fluid Check
Problem: We also checked the brake fluid during the brake pad replacement service. Although the fluid was in good condition, we noticed it was slightly lower than the recommended level, which can sometimes be an indication of brake pad wear.
Solution: We topped off the brake fluid to the correct level to ensure the hydraulic braking system functioned properly.
