Recently, we had the opportunity to work on a Range Rover Velar, where we completed a transmission mount replacement. During our inspection and repair process, we identified several underlying issues that required attention to ensure the vehicle was operating at its best.
Issues Found During the Inspection:
- Worn-Out Transmission Mounts: The primary issue that brought the vehicle in for service was the worn-out transmission mounts. Over time, these mounts can deteriorate due to regular engine vibrations, road conditions, and the aging of materials. This resulted in excessive movement of the transmission, leading to abnormal noises and rough shifting.
Solution: We replaced the worn-out transmission mounts with high-quality OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) parts. Our team of skilled technicians ensured that the new mounts were properly installed and torqued to factory specifications, restoring the stability of the transmission system and improving driving comfort. - Excessive Engine Vibration: With the worn transmission mounts, the engine and transmission were unable to stay properly aligned, which caused significant vibration and uncomfortable driving experiences.
Solution: By replacing the faulty mounts, we were able to eliminate the excess vibration, which not only enhanced comfort but also prevented potential damage to other components caused by misalignment. - Transmission Fluid Leaks: Upon closer inspection, we discovered that the aging mounts had allowed for slight movement of the transmission, which, in turn, resulted in a minor fluid leak from the transmission casing.
Solution: After replacing the mounts, we performed a thorough inspection of the transmission for leaks. We topped up the transmission fluid and replaced any seals that were compromised. Our team made sure that the fluid levels were correct, and no more leaks were present, ensuring the transmission runs efficiently. - Loose or Misaligned Transmission Parts: Due to the deteriorating condition of the mounts, some transmission components were misaligned or had become loose, which affected overall performance.
Solution: Along with the mount replacement, we carefully inspected and realigned the transmission parts to their proper positions. This realignment has helped restore smooth shifting and optimized transmission performance.
