Range Rover SV Engine Running in Limp Mode Repair Dubai

At Meta Mechanics, we specialize in resolving complex issues that can affect the performance of your vehicle. Recently, we had the opportunity to work on a Range Rover SV that was running in limp mode. Limp mode is a safety feature designed to protect the engine from severe damage by limiting its power. After a thorough inspection, we identified the root causes of the issue and provided effective solutions to restore the vehicle’s full performance.

Issues Found and Solutions:

  1. Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
    • Problem: A malfunctioning MAF sensor was sending incorrect readings to the engine control unit (ECU), causing the engine to run in limp mode to prevent further damage.
    • Solution: We replaced the faulty MAF sensor with a high-quality OEM replacement. This restored the proper air intake readings, allowing the ECU to adjust fuel delivery and engine performance correctly.
  2. Clogged Fuel Filter
    • Problem: The fuel filter was clogged, restricting fuel flow to the engine and causing performance issues, which triggered limp mode.
    • Solution: We replaced the clogged fuel filter with a new one to ensure smooth fuel flow. This eliminated the performance drop and allowed the engine to run efficiently, no longer triggering limp mode.
  3. Faulty Turbocharger Boost Sensor
    • Problem: The turbocharger boost sensor was malfunctioning, leading to incorrect boost pressure readings, which caused the ECU to activate limp mode as a protective measure.
    • Solution: We replaced the faulty turbocharger boost sensor and recalibrated the system. This restored the proper boost pressure readings and allowed the engine to regain full power and performance.
  4. Defective Throttle Position Sensor (TPS)
    • Problem: A defective throttle position sensor was providing inaccurate data to the ECU about the position of the throttle, resulting in erratic engine behavior and limp mode activation.
    • Solution: We replaced the faulty throttle position sensor with a new OEM part. This restored proper throttle control and eliminated the limp mode condition, allowing for smooth acceleration and improved engine responsiveness.
  5. Low Transmission Fluid Level
    • Problem: A low transmission fluid level caused the transmission to enter a protective limp mode to prevent damage to the drivetrain.
    • Solution: We topped up the transmission fluid to the correct level and performed a comprehensive inspection of the transmission system to ensure there were no leaks. This resolved the limp mode issue caused by the transmission.
