Range Rover HST Auxiliary Battery Replacement Dubai

Meta Mechanics recently completed an auxiliary battery replacement for a Range Rover HST in Dubai. During the service, our skilled technicians conducted a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle’s secondary electrical systems and identified several issues that could affect its overall performance. Below are the key problems discovered and the solutions provided to ensure the proper functioning of the auxiliary battery and related systems.

Issues Identified:

  1. Depleted Auxiliary Battery
    • Problem: The auxiliary battery had become significantly depleted, leading to issues with secondary electrical systems such as the start/stop function, infotainment system, and power distribution for non-essential systems.
    • Solution: We replaced the depleted auxiliary battery with a new, high-performance unit, ensuring reliable power for secondary systems, such as the start/stop function and infotainment, which improves overall vehicle performance.
  2. Corroded Battery Terminals
    • Problem: The terminals of the auxiliary battery were corroded, which can affect the connection and power flow to the vehicle’s secondary electrical components, causing intermittent failures.
    • Solution: We cleaned and treated the battery terminals with an anti-corrosion solution, ensuring a reliable and strong electrical connection to the auxiliary battery, which improves power flow and prevents future corrosion.
  3. Faulty Charging System for Auxiliary Battery
    • Problem: The charging circuit for the auxiliary battery was not functioning properly, leading to insufficient charging of the battery when the engine was running, resulting in a drained battery.
    • Solution: We inspected the charging system, identified the issue, and repaired the faulty circuit, ensuring that the auxiliary battery receives the correct charge when the vehicle is running, extending its lifespan and ensuring proper functioning.
  4. Parasitic Electrical Drain
    • Problem: A parasitic electrical drain was causing the auxiliary battery to lose charge even when the vehicle was turned off, leading to unnecessary battery depletion.
    • Solution: We identified and eliminated the source of the parasitic drain, ensuring that the auxiliary battery stays charged when the vehicle is not in use, preventing premature battery failure and enhancing vehicle reliability.
  5. Improper Battery Management System (BMS) Calibration
    • Problem: The Battery Management System (BMS) was not calibrated to properly monitor and manage the auxiliary battery’s charge, resulting in inefficient charging and discharging cycles.
    • Solution: After installing the new auxiliary battery, we recalibrated the BMS to ensure accurate monitoring and efficient management of the battery’s charge cycles, maximizing its lifespan and preventing overcharging or undercharging.
