Issue Found:

1. Worn or Damaged Oil Pan Gasket

Problem:

A worn or damaged oil pan gasket is one of the most common causes of engine oil leaks. Over time, the rubber or sealing material in the gasket can deteriorate, allowing oil to seep out from the oil pan. This can result in low oil levels, engine overheating, and poor lubrication.

Solution:

After carefully inspecting the oil pan gasket, we found it to be worn and leaking oil. We removed the oil pan, replaced the damaged gasket with a high-quality OEM gasket, and reinstalled the oil pan securely. After topping up the oil, we conducted a thorough leak test to ensure no further oil leakage occurred.

2. Leaking Valve Cover Gasket

Problem:

The valve cover gasket seals the top of the engine and prevents oil from leaking out of the valve covers. If the gasket becomes brittle or damaged, it can lead to oil leaks, which can potentially cause engine misfires and damage to other components.

Solution:

Upon inspection, we discovered that the valve cover gasket had become brittle and was leaking oil. We carefully removed the valve covers, replaced the old gasket with a new OEM valve cover gasket, and ensured the covers were reinstalled properly. After reassembling the components, we checked for leaks and verified that the engine was now sealed tightly.

3. Faulty Oil Seals

Problem:

Oil seals, such as the crankshaft and camshaft seals, are responsible for preventing oil from leaking from critical engine parts. Over time, these seals can wear out, causing oil to leak around the engine.

Solution:

During our inspection, we identified that the crankshaft and camshaft oil seals were damaged and leaking. We replaced these seals with new OEM oil seals, ensuring they were properly seated and installed to prevent any future leaks. We then checked the surrounding components to make sure no oil was leaking from the seals.

4. Oil Filter or Oil Drain Plug Leaks

Problem:

Sometimes, oil filter leaks or oil drain plug leaks can be the cause of oil leakage. These components can become loose, worn, or improperly installed, allowing oil to escape.

Solution:

We also found a small leak near the oil filter and drain plug. After inspecting the oil filter, we tightened it and ensured it was securely installed. We also replaced the drain plug washer to eliminate the leak and reinstalled the plug with the correct torque.

5. Over-tightened or Damaged Oil Drain Plug

Problem:

An over-tightened or damaged oil drain plug can cause the seal to fail, leading to oil leaks. This is a common issue if the oil has been changed at an untrained shop or without proper torque.

Solution:

We found the oil drain plug was over-tightened and had caused the gasket to break down, leading to an oil leak. We replaced the drain plug gasket and re-tightened the plug to the manufacturer’s specifications to ensure a proper seal.
