At Meta Mechanics, we know that maintaining your Audi RS7’s braking system is crucial for both performance and safety. One often-overlooked aspect of brake system maintenance is the brake oil (brake fluid). Brake fluid plays a key role in transferring the force from your foot on the brake pedal to the brake pads, ensuring smooth and efficient braking. Over time, brake fluid can degrade and absorb moisture, which can affect braking performance and safety.
We recently had the opportunity to perform a brake oil change for an Audi RS7 in Dubai, and we’d like to explain why this service is so important, what we discovered during the service, and the benefits of keeping your brake fluid in top condition.
Issue Identified:
1. Brake Fluid Contaminated with Moisture
Problem: Upon testing the brake fluid, we found that it had absorbed moisture, which is common in older fluid. Moisture absorption reduces the fluid’s effectiveness, lowers its boiling point, and can cause corrosion in the brake components.
Solution: We drained the old, contaminated fluid and replaced it with high-quality, manufacturer-approved brake fluid. This ensures that the braking system operates at peak efficiency and safety.
2. Brake Fluid Level Low
Problem: We noticed that the brake fluid level was slightly below the recommended level. Low brake fluid can result in insufficient hydraulic pressure, leading to poor braking performance and potential damage to the brake system.
Solution: After replacing the old fluid, we topped up the brake fluid to the correct level, ensuring the hydraulic system functions optimally. We also performed a full brake system inspection to check for any leaks.
3. No Visible Leaks or Damage
Problem: During the inspection, we checked all brake lines, hoses, and components for signs of leakage or damage, which could also cause low brake fluid levels. Fortunately, we did not find any leaks or visible issues with the system.
Solution: Since no leaks were present, we proceeded with the brake fluid replacement and sealed the system to ensure proper function.
