Issue Found:
- Worn-Out Shock Absorbers
- Problem: The primary function of the struts is to absorb the shocks from the road, helping to smooth out the ride. Over time, the shock absorbers within the struts can wear out due to prolonged use, exposure to road debris, and heat. Worn shock absorbers can cause poor handling, excessive body roll, and uncomfortable driving experiences.
- Solution: In our inspection, we found that the shock absorbers in the struts were significantly worn, causing the vehicle to feel unstable and bouncy on the road. We replaced the worn-out shock absorbers with high-quality, OEM-equivalent parts, ensuring the suspension regained its damping ability and provided a smoother, more stable ride.
- Leaking Strut Fluid
- Problem: Struts are filled with a specialized fluid that helps control the movement of the suspension. If the strut seal becomes damaged, fluid can leak out, causing the strut to lose its damping ability. A leaking strut will not perform properly and can lead to poor handling and an uncomfortable ride.
- Solution: Upon closer inspection, we found leaks in the seals of the struts, which were causing fluid to escape. We replaced the damaged seals and refilled the struts with the appropriate fluid, restoring their proper function and preventing further leaks. This ensured that the suspension system was functioning at full capacity.
- Broken or Worn-Out Coil Springs
- Problem: The coil spring is an integral part of the strut assembly, providing support for the vehicle’s weight and maintaining the proper ride height. Over time, coil springs can weaken or break, leading to issues such as sagging, uneven ride height, or poor handling.
- Solution: During our inspection, we found that the coil springs were beginning to show signs of wear and had lost some of their tension. We replaced the springs with new, durable coil springs that restored the proper ride height and ensured balanced weight distribution for better stability.
- Damaged Strut Mounts or Bearings
- Problem: The strut mount is responsible for securing the strut to the vehicle’s frame, while the bearings allow the strut to rotate with the steering mechanism. If either of these components becomes damaged, it can lead to squeaking, rattling, and poor steering control. Strut mount damage can also cause the strut to detach from its position, affecting overall suspension performance.
- Solution: We found that the strut mounts on the Audi RS1 were damaged and causing noise and instability during steering. We replaced the mounts with high-quality replacement parts and lubricated the bearings, ensuring that the struts were securely mounted and operated smoothly.
- Bent or Damaged Strut Shaft
- Problem: The strut shaft is a vital component that connects the strut assembly to the wheel hub.
