Solution:

We also topped off the gearbox oil to the correct level, ensuring the transmission operated smoothly. - Damaged Gearbox Oil Pan or Gasket Issue:
The gearbox oil pan and its gasket seal the bottom of the gearbox, preventing oil from leaking out. Over time, the gasket can degrade, or the pan itself can become damaged due to impacts or corrosion, leading to oil leaks.
Solution:
During our inspection, we found that the gearbox oil pan had developed a small crack and the gasket had deteriorated. We replaced both the oil pan and the gasket with high-quality, OEM-compatible parts. This repair not only stopped the leak but also restored the gearbox’s integrity, ensuring proper oil containment. - Loose or Broken Gearbox Bolts Issue:
The gearbox oil pan is secured by bolts, and if these bolts become loose or damaged, it can cause the pan to shift or misalign, resulting in oil leakage. Sometimes, bolts may be improperly torqued during prior repairs or service work.
Solution:
We discovered that some of the gearbox oil pan bolts had loosened over time, which caused a slight oil leak. We tightened the bolts to the manufacturer’s recommended torque specifications and checked for any additional signs of damage. After securing the pan properly, we inspected the gearbox and ensured there were no further leaks. - Leaking Gear Shifter Seal Issue:
The gear shifter seal is responsible for preventing gearbox oil from leaking where the gear lever enters the transmission. If the seal becomes worn or damaged, it can cause oil to leak from the shifter assembly.
Solution:
We identified that the gear shifter seal was cracked, causing gearbox oil to leak into the cabin. We replaced the damaged seal with an OEM-compatible part and checked for any oil spillage inside the vehicle. This repair fixed the leak and ensured that the oil was contained within the gearbox. - Damaged or Corroded Transmission Cooler Lines Issue:
In some Audi Q8 models, the transmission cooler lines carry oil from the gearbox to the radiator for cooling. If these lines become damaged, cracked, or corroded, they can leak oil, leading to a drop in oil levels and transmission overheating.
Solution:
We found that one of the transmission cooler lines had developed a small crack, leading to a steady drip of gearbox oil. We replaced the damaged line with a new, high-quality replacement and ensured that all other cooler lines were intact. After this repair, we flushed the system and refilled the gearbox oil to the appropriate level.
