At Meta Mechanics, we recently completed a service for a Range Rover Autobiography in Dubai, where the Engine Management Light (EML) was illuminated. This issue can indicate a range of potential problems with the engine, emissions, or electrical systems. After conducting a thorough diagnostic inspection, our technicians identified the following issues, and we provided the necessary solutions to restore the vehicle’s performance:
Issues Identified During the Range Rover Autobiography Engine Management Light On Diagnosis
- Faulty Oxygen Sensors
The oxygen sensors were malfunctioning, causing incorrect readings of the air-fuel mixture. This can trigger the engine management light and lead to poor fuel efficiency and increased emissions.
Solution:
We replaced the faulty oxygen sensors with high-quality, OEM parts, ensuring accurate readings of the air-fuel ratio and improving fuel efficiency while reducing harmful emissions. - Dirty Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
A dirty MAF sensor was restricting the engine’s airflow, leading to incorrect air-fuel mixture calculations and poor engine performance.
Solution:
We cleaned the MAF sensor, restoring its ability to accurately measure airflow and allowing the engine control unit (ECU) to adjust the fuel mixture for optimal performance. - Failed Engine Control Module (ECM)
The ECM, which regulates key engine functions, was found to have developed a fault, causing incorrect signal transmission to vital engine components, triggering the EML.
Solution:
We reprogrammed and recalibrated the ECM, restoring its functionality and ensuring that all engine components received the correct signals for efficient operation. - Loose or Damaged Fuel Cap
A loose or damaged fuel cap was found, which can cause fuel vapors to escape and trigger the engine management light as part of the vehicle’s emissions control system.
Solution:
We replaced the damaged fuel cap, ensuring a tight seal to prevent vapor leaks and reset the engine management light to ensure it stayed off. - Worn Spark Plugs
The spark plugs were worn out and not firing efficiently, causing misfires and triggering the engine management light. This can lead to rough idling and reduced power.
Solution:
We replaced the worn spark plugs with high-performance replacements, improving ignition efficiency and eliminating misfires, which resulted in smooth engine operation and the light turning off.
