At Meta Mechanics, we recently serviced a Range Rover Vogue with the check engine light illuminated in Dubai. Our team of expert technicians conducted a comprehensive diagnostic and identified several issues affecting the vehicle’s engine performance. Below are the key findings and the solutions we implemented to resolve the problem:
Issue Found:
- Faulty Oxygen Sensors
- Issue: The oxygen sensors were malfunctioning, leading to inaccurate readings of the air-fuel mixture, which caused the engine to run inefficiently and triggered the check engine light.
- Solution: We replaced the faulty oxygen sensors with high-quality OEM replacements to restore accurate fuel mixture readings, improving fuel efficiency and performance while turning off the check engine light.
- Misfire in Cylinder #3
- Issue: A misfire was detected in cylinder #3, which could lead to rough idling, poor acceleration, and reduced engine power, causing the check engine light to activate.
- Solution: We replaced the faulty ignition coil and spark plugs in cylinder #3, ensuring proper combustion and smooth engine operation, eliminating the misfire and turning off the check engine light.
- Loose or Damaged Gas Cap
- Issue: The gas cap was either loose or damaged, causing a vacuum leak and triggering the check engine light due to an improper seal in the fuel system.
- Solution: We replaced the damaged gas cap with a new one to restore proper sealing and prevent fuel vapor leaks, turning off the check engine light and ensuring the vehicle’s fuel system functions correctly.
- Faulty Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor
- Issue: The MAF sensor was malfunctioning, leading to incorrect readings of the air intake, which affected engine performance and triggered the check engine light.
- Solution: We cleaned the MAF sensor, and if necessary, replaced it with a new one to restore accurate air intake measurements, improving engine performance and fuel efficiency while resolving the check engine light issue.
- Engine Control Unit (ECU) Error Codes
- Issue: The ECU had stored error codes due to previous sensor malfunctions, causing the check engine light to remain on even after the underlying issues were addressed.
- Solution: After fixing the underlying issues, we cleared the error codes from the ECU, ensuring the check engine light turned off and the vehicle was reset for optimal performance.
