Common Issues Found:
- Worn or Damaged Gearbox Oil Seal
- Problem: The gearbox is sealed with various oil seals, including the input and output shaft seals. Over time, these seals can deteriorate, crack, or wear out, resulting in gearbox oil leaking from the seals, typically around the areas where the shafts enter and exit the gearbox.
- Solution: During our inspection, we found that the input shaft seal was the main source of the leak. We replaced the worn-out seal with a new OEM part, restoring the proper seal and eliminating the gearbox oil leak. Our team also checked other seals and replaced any that showed signs of wear.
- Loose or Damaged Gearbox Oil Pan Bolts
- Problem: The oil pan is secured with bolts that can loosen over time, especially after prolonged use or due to vibration. When these bolts are loose or damaged, they create gaps that allow gearbox oil to leak out.
- Solution: Upon inspection, we discovered that several bolts securing the gearbox oil pan were loose, causing a slow oil leak. We tightened the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications and ensured the oil pan was properly sealed. This quick adjustment eliminated the leak and helped restore the gearbox’s performance.
- Cracked or Leaking Gearbox Oil Pan
- Problem: The gearbox oil pan houses the gearbox oil and can develop cracks or leaks due to corrosion, impact, or excessive heat. A damaged oil pan will lead to fluid loss and reduce the gearbox’s lubrication, potentially causing significant damage.
- Solution: In this case, we found that the oil pan was slightly cracked, which was causing the oil leak. We removed the damaged oil pan and replaced it with a high-quality OEM part. After installing the new pan, we filled the gearbox with the appropriate oil and ensured that there were no further leaks.
- Worn or Faulty Gearbox Gasket
- Problem: The gearbox gasket provides a seal between the gearbox housing and the oil pan. Over time, the gasket can deteriorate, leading to oil leaks around the gearbox. A worn-out gasket can result in a slow, steady oil leak that affects the gearbox’s lubrication.
- Solution: We identified that the gearbox gasket was compromised, which caused the oil leak. We replaced the damaged gasket with a new, OEM-quality gasket to restore the integrity of the seal. This repair effectively eliminated the leak and ensured that the gearbox oil remained inside the system.
- Damaged Gearbox Cooler Lines
- Problem: The gearbox cooler lines are responsible for circulating oil through the transmission cooler to help regulate the gearbox temperature. If these lines become damaged or corroded, they can leak gearbox oil, resulting in a drop in fluid levels and a risk of overheating.
- Solution: Our inspection revealed that one of the gearbox cooler lines had a small crack, causing a slow leak. We replaced the damaged line with a new, durable cooler line and re-secured the connections. This ensured proper fluid flow and prevented further leaks.
