At Meta Mechanics, we take pride in offering high-quality automotive repairs for your Audi S4, ensuring both safety and performance are never compromised. Recently, we had the opportunity to perform a rear brake pad replacement on an Audi S4, and we’re here to share the details of the repair and why it’s crucial for the overall braking performance of your vehicle.
What We Found:
When we inspected the Audi S4’s rear braking system, the following issues were identified:
- Worn Rear Brake Pads
- Problem: The rear brake pads had reached the end of their service life, with the friction material worn down to the indicator marks. Worn brake pads result in decreased braking performance and can increase stopping distances.
- Solution: We replaced the old, worn-out brake pads with high-quality, OEM-compatible pads that are specifically designed for the Audi S4. This will ensure the rear brakes provide reliable and efficient stopping power.
- Brake Pad Wear Sensors
- Problem: The wear sensors for the rear brake pads had triggered, indicating that the pads were too thin and needed immediate replacement.
- Solution: We replaced the brake pad wear sensors to ensure the system continues to provide accurate wear alerts, helping to prevent premature brake damage in the future.
- Brake Rotor Condition
- Problem: Although the rear brake rotors were still within acceptable thickness limits, there were some minor grooves and surface imperfections caused by the worn pads.
- Solution: After replacing the brake pads, we inspected the rotors and resurfaced them to ensure smooth and even contact with the new pads. This helps reduce brake noise, prevent further wear, and extend the life of the pads and rotors.
- Uneven Pad Wear
- Problem: The rear brake pads showed signs of uneven wear, which can be caused by issues with the calipers or the overall brake system.
- Solution: We thoroughly examined the brake calipers to ensure they were moving smoothly and replacing any faulty components, which helps ensure even wear of the new pads and prevents uneven braking.
- Brake Fluid Check
- Problem: The rear brake system had slightly low brake fluid levels, which can affect brake performance and pedal feel.
- Solution: We topped off the brake fluid with the recommended fluid type to ensure that the braking system operates at peak performance.
